Hi guys
From excellent advice on here my trusty Rockhopper is now my commuter. It has a rigid fork and Schwalbe big apples in 2.15. I need a wheelset as my front one has seen better days and the rear ones very heavy.
Can someone reccomend a 26" wheelset. The bike is only used on the road. No cross country or anything. Budget is about £150 stretching to £200. I know I can't have everything but a lighter wheelset would be ace but if it's not possible at the budget what do you reccomend?
I have seen the shimano mt66 wheelset is this OK for my intended purpose?
I have done loads of searches with a lot of recommendations popping up for superstar hubs and wheels. Unfortunately those posts are out of date so the wheels are no longer available.
I am capable of taking things apart and greasing them up if needs be. This is referring to cups and cones if that's the route I take i.e shimano
Thanks
Are these any good for £89? http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/WBPADL31X9/pacenti-dl31-32-hole-rims-on-sram-x9-hubs
What axle options do you need, QR, or something else?
The wheels look decent enough and we'll under budget. Do you think by spending a bit extra I can get a lighter wheelset?
I have not come across the sram hubs on forum searches when I was researching. Are they decent quality? Are service parts available for them?
The axles are both quick release on my bike. What size I couldn't tell you. Still pretty new to this bike stuff. Standard rockhopper size if that makes any sense? Below is what I got of the specialized website.
FRONT HUB
Forged alloy, hi/low flange, double sealed, ground race, machined disc mount and flange, QR, 28h
REAR HUB
Forged alloy, mid flange, double sealed, ground race, machined disc mount and flanges, cassette, QR, 32h
Don't forget "25XS" basket code for 25% discount off Superstar's clearance wheelsets, from a weight perspective you could probably undercut those Panaceti DL31 on X9 hubs by a good few hundred grams.

Handbuilt wheels are lovely.
Nothing wrong with Shimano wheels, they're really good.
But a handbuilt gives a guarantee that someone has thought about what you need, advised you accordingly and built a wheel to suit you.
Give them a call and they will build something that will last for ages.
Lots of other good wheels builders out there, but I only have experience of Hewitt, Merlin Cycles and Spa, can't recommend any of them highly enough.
Thanks for the advice. I was under the impression hand-built wheels will be out of my budget but will look into it
I just came across these what do you guys think?
Alexrims Supercomp 26" Wheelset £170
Build Spec:
Black Switch Ultra hubs
Sapim black laser spokes
Sapim black alloy nipples
Weight:
26" - 1510g p/pair
I'd buy used if I was you- lightweight 26er wheels are spectacularily depreciated now. I sold a pair of Stans Olympics on DT240S hubs for something like £125 last year, gutted. And a set of Roval Controls for less. Something like that.
I have been looking on ebay but if I'm honest I don't have a clue what's a good wheelset. Most topics I read guys want something strong and light due to where they ride. Mine is all road so all the reccomendations maybe overkill for me. But I will keep looking.
Made a mistake. With the discount the below wheels are £127
