Looking for a better set of wheels for my Pickenflick (the stock Vision Disc are pretty heavy at 2.1kg and not sure the freehub or bearings are great). Also, plan to run one set with gravelly tyres, the other with road slicks

Haven't decided whether 650b or 700c, so the question is really about what is a good hub/rim combo rather than a specific wheel. I know 700x47 tyres fit in my frame & forks, so don't necessarily need the smaller size to get the volume I want.

Probably looking at used wheels rather than new. And something a good 500-700g lighter than my current set.

Had assumed I'd look out something Hope-based, or a set of Hunt wheels, but what other makes? DT Swiss? Mavic? Anything else?

Use will need to be robust enough for off road (local trails, Dirty Reiver, Yorkshire True Grit, 3PCX) ... So am I looking for a road-disc wheelset, 'gravel-specific', or a light XC MTB 29er/650 wheelset?

Current wheels are 100/135 std 9mm QR. Presumably you can get adaptors for most hubs to get down to that size?

So ... general advice about what I should be looking for (and if anyone has anything suitable they're looking to offload ... 😉)

Budget £150-200 ish ideally (used)

I'm guessing everyone is out all weekend enjoying their nice light wheels to have time to give advice ...

Let me know what wheels you're rocking when you get back ... 😉

In the true tradition of STW of recommending what you've got, I've been happy with the Fulcrum wheels that came on my Genesis Equilibrium.  As they are often spec'd as OEM wheels on new bikes, they come up on the likes of ebay a lot as people go to upgrade.

I think you are setting your sights a little high if you want a 1400-1600g disc wheelset for £150.  You’ll probably be able to pick up a Mavic or fulcrum set around 1700g and £150 ish second hand.

I've just had a set of mavic open pro ust disc rims built onto American classic disc hubs, 32 spokes, black sapim race spokes and black brass nipples, set up with stans tubeless rim tape and valves.

They are around 1750g and just a bit too heavy for what I wanted. Perfect for a cyclo Cross bike as they will be bomb proof.

Currently set up 15x100 and 142x12 but American classic hubs have changeable adapters.

Hubs, rims and spokes are all new, never even had a tyre fitted.

Email in profile if you are interested. Looking for £350 posted but open to offers. Based in West Yorkshire if you want to view.

Thanks
