My current wheelset are Hope Pro 2 with DTswiss 5.1D rims. A few of the nipples have rounded off so need replacing and whilst fiddling about getting a spoke out ive bent that. One of the rims has a ding in it.
I've got a spare set of Hope Pro2 on Dtswiss E540 rims.....do I use these and rebuild my old wheels with a new rims?? Or just fix the offending few nipples and bang a couple of spokes in.
I have no experience, will i die?
I've read brass nipples are the way forward?
Has the ding caused a buckle?
If not then I would just replace spokes.
If its buckled then for me its new rim time - you can sometimes get them straight but not without unbalancing your wheel and they usually just get worse.
Set aside a day and follow Sheldon Browns instructions on wheel truing/building
and yes - brass nipples are what you need
more ding than buckle
You can sometimes remove a ding with an adjustable spanner
