Thinking of some new wheels, but with a limited budget.

Merlin have some good deals on Shimano, or could maybe pick up some 2nd hand Hope's for a similar price.

What do you reckon?

I ended up having a nukeproof rim on xt hub built up for about 90 quid for a rear wheel. Found this link at the time which offered something similar

Seemed cheaper than anywhere else

I run a couple of sets of 2nd hand Hope hoops - both sets are sound and i saved £200 odd quid against the cost of a new set

I wouldn't bother with any CRC/Wiggle etc sale items, because it normally means people haven't been buying the wheels for a reason

Hope are spot on - spokes, bearings and spares are available everywhere - so when you have that wheel failure on a weekend away somewhere, then it's pretty easy to find the bits you need

If buying second hand, whether it be frames/forks/wheels, I always factor in the cost of new bearings/bushings/seals etc.

Never know how long a wheel bearing is going to last before it decides to go, if you're already expecting the cost then you won't be too upset!
