I've built a few rear disc wheels with no issues and am about to start on a front disc wheel for my CX bike. When building the rear wheels I've always started on the drive side. What side should I start with for my front wheel - disc or 'drive' side or does it even matter? Cheers.

It doesn't matter which side you start from, only the pattern you end up with!
I usually start drive side on the rear but that's just me.
There's three basic patterns - Symmetrical, asymmetrical, and reverse symmetrical. It's hard to explain in words but I guess there's pics on the net somewhere.
Basically, rim brake wheels, front and rear, are built symmetrically.
Disc rears are asymmetric
Disc fronts are reverse symmetrical.
It's all to do with where the 'pulling spoke' sits on the outside of the hub....
I tend to think of a wheel as two separate sides rather than a complete unit as that helps with the thought process of how I lace
