Am looking to get some LB carbon rims to build onto spare set of DT hubs I've got. I'm looking for a wheelbuilder that can cut and thread straight pull spokes for the rear wheel. I know JRA in Sheffield have a Phil Wood machine and can cut & thread - but they'll only do it for their own hubs/rims (fair enough).
Does anyone know any other decent wheelbuilders who can do this?
I've bought DT direct pull spokes from the likes of Bike24 or Rose Bikes in Germany - better range and cheaper than UK sellers. Ideally spoke threads should be rolled - cut threads are weaker.
I can do straight pull spokes on my Morizumi machine, if you've got the blank spokes.
I'd have thought most half decent shops should be able to do it. Nothing complicated about cutting and threading a spoke, as long as you have the tool.
There lies the rub - not many shops would spend £3k on a decent spoke machine, so do it with a Cyclo type one which is much slower and produces lower quality threads.

What lengths do you need?
Any shop with a Chickens account can get custom length Sapim spokes from them. They do Race, CX-RAY, Leader or Laser in straight pull.
Thanks for the replies.
Not sure with spoke lengths - I think I'm going to have to measure up when rims arrive. Main problem is that the rear hub is from a Roval wheel that has Specialized's 142+ spoke bed (normal DT straight pull hub flange spacing plus 2mm) The wheelset will be going onto my Spesh Enduro 29, so it'll take the weird 142+ hub no problem. I've also heard that the light bicycle rims can vary in diameter by enough to make it more reliable to measure first before ordering spokes (going on a pals recent experience - LBS built his, but he used 'normal' hubs & standard length spokes)
I would prefer spokes cut & threaded with a Morizumi, so good to know that they can be done. Also good to know about the Sapim option. Looks like I shall be treating myself to some new rims:)
Ben, whereabouts are you?
Try Jonny at Noble Wheels. Highly recommended.
