How much variance from advertised weight would you think OK for wheels? My Elite Ksyriums are exactly as stated but seems not all are so accurate.

My take on it is that wheel weight is one of those things that you can feel and tell, but makes no difference in performance anyway.

So a few grammes, even a hundred grammes will make no difference at all.

Someone will be along shortly to explain all about rotational weight and how it's the most important palce to save weight in all the world, but I don't think it is.

I use Weight Weenies but it doesn't get updated much IME. I looked for wheels weighing less than 1500g, I got some weighing 100g over that so disappointed but yeah not sure it'll make a huge difference to my riding. Just wanted some lighter than my Ksyriums that are also a bit aero.

Saving weight on the rim must be good for climbing - rotating weight matters for acceleration right?

Yes it does, but in cycling, the actual accelerations are so small that it doesn't really have much of an impact. Lets dismiss the 'But when I'm climbing there are lots of small accelerations' thing too while we're here. Think as well that acceleration and decceleration are related, so a wheel that is easy to spin up to speed also loses speed quickly too...

The most important things in cycling wheels are aerodynamics (after strength and not falling to bits easily).

When you accelerate a bicycle, you accelerate all of it, and you, and your clothes, and your sunglasses, and your water bottles, and the water in those bottles and the urine in your bladder, and the food in your stomach, and the phone in your pocket, everything.

So a few grammes at the wheel makes little actual difference.

You could also argue a heavier wheel has more momentum so could carry its speed for longer when rolling.

Try rolling a 1p coin and a £1 coin on the floor and you will see what i mean.

Obviously a lighter wheel will be better overall for cycling due to less wieght to be pulled allong.

I know aero is more important and that's what motivated me to get some new wheels - not ready to go for deep section wheels though - not right for club runs IMO though I've seen a few with them.

Heavier no issue on the flat but of some when climbing - just not sure how much. But would like the wheels to weigh what was stated.
