Hi,
I think I have decided to upgrade the wheels on my XLA. Currently have Gipiemme Roccia.
I have no idea what to go for, I just want tubeless compatible and not too expensive.
Cheers,
Mick

To be honest pretty much anything will be better than the Roccia's. On my lads XLA SL we went with WTB i21 rims and DT 240 front, Novatec rear, and CX Rays. I'm tight so sort out the best prices on the parts from eBay etc, think they came in around £240. Weight wise just under 1600 grams but the big plus is no broken spokes which was pretty much every ride on the Roccia's.
My Rocciaa have done ok. Nearly 1000 miles and done some tricky off-road with no problems.
I got some Novatec CXD wheels for my Dirty Disco. They're light and have held up well.
I went for Mavic Crossrides 29ers.
What I didnt know was that the wheel I bought only took a 10 speed cassette. The freewheel was around 2mm shorter then the 11 speed one.
TBH, it didnt bother me too much, I never used the largest sprocket anyway, so just removed it, and am now running it as 10 speed.
And yes, you are right, those wheels are rubbish. My bearings were completely shot after 8 CX races. I'd ran my previous wheels with Campag hubs for over 5 years with no maintenance.
If you have Shimano 11-speed drivetrain, the 11-34 cassettes fit on a 10-speed freehub, to run them on an 11-speed hub requires the provided spacer behind the 34T sprocket.
Why not a set from Hunt?
