I bought a set of Mavic Crossmax wheels, as per the below link. The wheels are advertised as "Shimano/SRAM compatible". I have just measured the freehub as it looks small and it's 35mm wide. Now my Shimano SLX M7000 (11/46t) cassette is 44mm width... is this a microspline freehub on the Mavic wheel ? I assume I would need to fit a new freehub to get the SLX cassette on ? or can I use the SLX cassette on the Instant Drive 360 hub ?
thanks
I would've thought it was for the old style shimano that the SRAM NX cassettes fit as well
It’s a normal Shimano HG freehub (take the paper off it!!). It is def not microspline.
There might be a spacer included with the wheels if it’s needed which goes on before the cassette.
Fit the cassette and see if it is tight when tightened......
What made you measure the cassette and freehub instead of just fitting the cassette?
Sorry for being a bit thick but how is a 44mm cassette going on something 35mm wide ? It says "instant drive 360" on it.
That looks exactly like a normal HG freehub
Fit the cassette and then report back.....
The freehub is def not 44mm wide where the cassette fits so you’ve measured wrong. The spline after the back is higher than drops down, the cassette doesn’t go over the higher part but you need to take the paper off.
Instant drive 360 refers to the engagement of the freehub, nothing at all to do with which cassette fits!!
A circle is 360 degrees hence the name.
will do, thanks for the replies.
