Hello.
I have a 27.5 2016 Giant Trance and looking to purchase a new front wheel, which seems to be a bit of a minefield.
The stock front wheel currently runs a 15mm thru axle at 100mm. I don’t seem to be able to find a front wheel within my price range which is up to approx £150.00 and fits the measurements of my axle, everything I find seems to either be boost or quick release.
I have been looking at the Halo vapour 650b Enduro / Trail wheel which fits the budget but I am unsure if the 100mm will come with a quick release instead of a thru axle.
Link to wheel here https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Halo-Vapour-27-5-650b-Enduro-Trail-Wheel_70653.htm?image=2.
Any advice if I can change a quick release wheel to a Thur Axle or any suggestions of wheels which would fit the bill would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Nukeproof Horizon front is right on budget : https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/nukeproof-horizon-v2-front-wheel/rp-prod195305
Neutron also available but currently out of stock: https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/nukeproof-neutron-v2-front-wheel/rp-prod195300
Probably better to ask tredz
Good find, thank you.
Seems to be cheaper on Tredz https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Nukeproof-Neutron-V2-Front-27-5-650B-MTB-Wheel_226674.htm
Same price, that link on Tredz is the 2nd link I posted and also out of stock.
Loads on ebay, what are you after in more detail, i.e. rim width (25, 30, 35?), tubeless or not, etc?
Anything wrong with your front hub?
You could just put a new rim on the current hubs? (Vapour is £50)
You might want the 28H version on the Trance... best to count.
Dhrider - yes you are correct.
Thanks all, I would rather Just replace the whole wheel to be honest.
I’m currently running 2.3 DHF & DHRs which I’m very happy with, so a wheel that will house these tyres.
I’m currently using tubes, I may or may switch to tubeless at some point I’m the future, but really not crucial for me (sounds like too much messing about for me, I like plug and play).
