Managed a bit of spoke footering and got the play down to about a 4mm wobble. Seems ok to me but the spoke tension is interesting. Go with more wobble and more even/ less spoke tension or is it new rim time? I seem to remember someone going for the spoke tension and getting a true wheel ( that was a little egg shaped)

Legal standard for a new bike is 2mm for disk 1mm for rim brake...

On cytech course we had to get below 0.2mm to pass. 0.1mm is achievable so 4mm is pretty bad...

If it's 4mm out and the tension is uneven then it needs more work (or a new rim)

My front wheel has about 5mm run out. I'm not dead yet.

The spokes are all roughly the same tension, by feel only. By my reckoning, I'm riding over stuf that's way lumpier than 5mm, so what's the point in worrying too much. I'll get around to trying to make it more straight one day.

I'm not sensitive to a lot of things, but I can see and feel a wheel being 5mm out the way I can a stem that's 3degrees of centre. It would drive me nuts.

🙂
