Hi all,

Bought some wheels recently off the classifieds they are DT Swiss XR1 with sealed bearings. The rear just doesn't seem that smooth to me, I dont really know much about wheels/hubs to be honest but these seemed like a decent spec and the advert stated that they were "In great condition, almost like new, spin smoothly and true" . I've uploaded a video below but as the wheel doesn't seem to spin for very long it seems it needs a service? or perhaps I just need to adjust them? how? can you even do that on a sealed bearing hub?

sorry for all the questions this is just new to me and I could do with knowing if I should be raising the issue with the seller to get some money back and get them serviced at a local bike shop? what a pain in the ass.

video can be seen HERE (its a .mov file so needs quicktime) . first few spins are on the granny ring then the final on the big front ring...

thanks alot
Rich

spin it in your hands, not on the bike, you should be able to feel if it's shagged

I'd be surprised if that wasnt the brake. the speed it slows down by would mean a very very shagged bearing and you'd hear that with ease.

feels a bit shagged to me. I'll try remove the caliper and do it on the bike again.

how much should a lbs charge to sort it out?
thanks
