Lenght of time that is,for riding on a dodgy/non serviced air can? Mines two months and hopefully rising. 😀
Hmmm. 'Non-serviced?' It's not an air can but I have a 13yr old shock which has never been serviced...
Thats impressive.Does it still move?
2 years easy
5 years for a rp23. Still works fine
Absolutely fine Monkey. It was my main bike for 5 years, raced XC too with singlecrown forks and lighter tyres, been a spare bike ever since, still comes out every now and then. It's done one week in Innerliethen, 3 days at Afan and a Peaks trip so far this year.
It will be raced in the Alps next month:

Frame and shock are original, 1999. The rest is Trigger's brush. Dropper post and Formula The Ones now on it though.
Still got some PACE RC36 forks going from 1996 ish that have never had a service.
I think the rebound/damper oil could do with a change, but everything else is fine.
I have a manitou swinger 3 way air on my 2005 Orange Five. I bought the frame (inc shock) in December 2010. I have no idea if it has ever been serviced I haven't had it done since i've had it and it works fine.
Min 2 years on a Float RP23.
That's 2/3 times per week min 20 miles around Cannock
Admittedly it felt a lot better after the service 🙂
Never serviced my RP23 for the first 5 years of it's life, did about 100+ miles a week on it in all weathers. It did feel a bit smoother after I serviced it though, but not by that much tbh.......Might stretch it to 6 years for the next one..........

That's music to my ears 🙂
My Fox Float R works fine after a few years. I'm not saying a service wouldn't improve it but it at the same time it works so well I've never felt the need to have it serviced!
On that subject though, anyone else think that it's somewhat taking the mickey that they recommend servicing shocks in the seemingly small intervals that they do? If an RP23 costs almost £400, that's roughly what you'd expect to pay (per wheel) for a decent shock absorber on a car, yet they don't suggest you take them apart every 200 hours and replace the fluid etc.
4 years on a Fox Float R, still going strong.
What year is it now? *checks*
Whoops, five years 😳
I've cleaned and relubed the inside of the aircan a few times though.
I finally replaced the rear shock on my 11 year old Scott strike last year. The new one was an improvement
Mines making a squishy noise.Would like to get it serviced but Greyville say Suntour airshocks are'Consumable'.Think they just want me to buy a new one.Strange how the manual says it should be serviced after 1500 miles!
Just a warranty thing i spose, if you don't stick to the service shedual kiss goodby to having it fixed for free.
It can't be serviced end of,according to Greyville.Suntour Epicon RL 140mm by the way.
