Right, got shimano deore M535 disc brakes and they dont work as well as the used to

Had them roughly 16months and used to work very well, all the power I needed but now I struggle to lock the wheels. If feels as though the pads are glazed over so there isnt enough friction to slow me down in the way that they used too.

Pads I use are superstar sintered, which i used to use when the brakes were still worked well. Rotors seem fine and theyve got plenty of bite in the lever so dont think they need bleeding.

Have tried sanding the tops of the pads and changing the pads but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Cheers

clean your discs - the dishwasher seems a popular option.

+ new pads.

+ stop using spray lube - the oil gets everywhere - like your discs.

does the rinse aid in the dishwasher not contaminate the disk (and in turn, pads with use)?

Do they just need bleeding?

Have you checked to see if a hedgehog has got stuck in it? Last time that happened to me my brakes started playing up.

Bleeding obvious they don't need bleeding if you read the OP.

Oil on the pads then.
