I'm after some new SPD shoes. Mine Shimano shoes are far too narrow for my flipper feet.
I've been told Northwave come up quite wide but does anyone know if they are wider than Shimano M088 wide fit shoes?
I found the Northwave ones I had were a LOT wider than the Shimano I had.
I was +1 size up on Shimano MY021, hiker types. Northwave were true to size but wide fitting. I couldn't get on with the stiffness of proper MTB shoes.
Prefer to ride in skate type shoes.
Thanks for the info. Just ordered a pair of NW Fondos.
The NW Fondos arrived in Evans Lakeside Friday but they were also much too narrow for my flipper feet. The staff were very helpful and got several shoes of different types for me to try. I settled on a pair of Specialized Tahoes which were just about wide enough (only just). I wasn't bothered about the more casual look, just wanted something that would actually fit.
Unfortunately after about 3 mins of riding i realised they have way too much flex to be used with SPD pedals. On every pedal stroke i could feel the pedal pushing on the ball of my foot. Hopefully I'll be able to return them and continue my search for a wide shoe.
Don't know what budget you have, but have you looked at Sidi wide fit shoes?
I was looking for something sub £100 but now i'm prepared to pay a lot more if they fit.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see if Evans or any other shop (not online) stock a size 41.
Just did a bit of research on the SIDI Mega fit. It's only 4mm wider than their standard fit so probably still much too narrow but i'll try them if i can find them.
Try Specialized shoes they always seem to fit me and I have reasonably wide feet.
I suggest you walk 100m and pop into Decathlon up the hill? A whole wall of shoes to try on.
SIDI mega are the widest I have found so far. I have really wide feet. The half size shoes are the same foot plate, but even roomier in the top, so might be worth going for a half size.
Only thing I have against mine so far is that they are a tiny bit loose on the heel. That is something I am prepared to put up with for a shoe that doesn't squash my foot :).
I have issues finding shoes wide enough. I've ended up with giro hv (hoth volume) shoes which seem to be wider than all the usual suspects.
I believe that Lake also do wider shoes.
Tried lots of shoes in Decathlon just before they closed but all still too narrow. Ended up ordering a pair of Specialized MTB Sport shoes into Evans in my size to try. Got home and saw some DMT Kryptons that look wider that than anything else i've tried so ordered them in too.
