You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I'm after some baggies for general XC riding. There's so much choice about so I'll confine my choice to Endura - and even then there appears to be loads of different types that all look similar (MTR/Humvee/Singletrack/MT500 Spray and Lite variants). What's the difference?
I'm a sniff under 6'1" and with a 32/33" waist the size guide tells me I'm in a medium, but most of my gear is L/XL. Is Endura stuff really sized that much larger?
I want something not too baggy & flappy that comes down to my knees when I'm the bike (but not 3/4's), but obviously comfortable & flexy.
What dya recommend?
Endura sizing is weird, go with what they suggest, you will be a medium
I find Endura stuff doesn't fit me that well, which is a shame as I like to support UK companies. I'm 5'8 and have a 33 waist, so possiblly thicker set than yourself. The last pair I tried, I needed to size up for my legs and were then too big around the waist. I have some Fox Ranger shorts which I find comfy.
From my experience, I'd avoid Endura as their quality control has been missing in action for a long time.
Maybe try Madison?
Quality is fine on the 5 or 6 pairs I’ve had. Go for Singletrack or Singletrack lite or for an even less baggy cut, MTR.
Quality has been fine for a good many years now IME. However, don't like the current version of the Singletrack - v3 seemed a real step backward from the ST2 in terms of fit and functionality. A 32" waist is medium for most manufactuers but it's a small for Endura. I still wear a medium in most of their stuff but the Singletracks didn't fit well.

If the MTRs are unchanged from the pair I've got they are really good - I tend to use them for running and road riding rather than off road and they are very non-baggy but fit and comfort excellent.
I currently have a pair of MTR, Humvees and Singletracks, (haven't used the MT500). First off with you 33" waist your definitely not in an XL, medium would sound about right.
Humvees and Singletracks are very similar in terms of pockets, material etc, I'd probably say the singletracks have a less baggy fit than the Humvee's, although I do find the Humvee's to be a bit longer in the leg particularly when wearing knee pads, (I am also 6'1). The MTR's seem to have a very similar cut to the singletracks, but have less pockets and are made from a lot more lightweight/thinner material, they are the ones that get used the least out of the 3. Quality seems fine on all of them.
MTR size smaller than the rest. I am a 34 waist and am medium in Singletrack. Medium MTR are a bit tight on me. I have a brand new unworn pair of them that I can’t get into....
To be honest, before I typed this post I was swaying more towards the MTR's.
...and now I don' know if I need M or L :o)
If you are a 32/33 then the Medium MTR should be perfect. They are really good shorts IMO and I have loads of Endura MTB kit.
Endura kit is real world sizes, not cycling specific sizes, and certainly not Italian cycling sizes.
If in doubt then try some different sizes at a real life bike shop, Endura rarely discount their kit below what your friendly LBS would do for a regular customer.
I’ve always found them good quality and built to take UK weather abuse.
Thanks very much for your words guys.
