On the bike the other day and the forks (Rockshox Reba RL 29er) didn't appear to be working at all.
When I got back I tried to compress the fork and they would only move about 25mm and would then stick in that position, when I got off and held the front wheel you could pull the forks back out to there start position 🙁

They've been on the bike 2 years and had 1 oil change (done myself) do they just need a service or could it be something more?

Blown air seals, allowing positve air to transfer to negative chambers, hence them staying compressed.

Service and seals replacement should sort them out, Mr Jardon

Have you done a lower service recently? Rockshox need regular lower servicing or they get VERY sticky.

Drop me a mail with model year and will check tomorrow morning as RS kits have been updated recently.

This is working on the basis that they aren't full of mud and/or dry, but if they haven't been serviced for two years it'd be a good idea to do a full complete service.

No service as such in 2 years 😳

I took them apart once to change the travel, re-assembled with new oil, that's it!

Out of interest, how frequently should these forks need a service?

daver27, if i've got them apart and seeing they've not been serviced would it make sense to do all serviceable parts?

I usually do my Rockshox lowers once every six months - but then I've a number of bikes to spread the mileage over. Rockshox lowers are a doddle to service, but after two years they're bound to need new garter seals and foam rings, so at the very least you're looking at £30 plus oil, ISP or similar to clean the innards with and a spare hour or so. There's no guarantee it'll solve the problem though - which could be worn seals - in which case you'll be back at square one.

My advice would be to clean the fork and to send it to LoCo. He's very helpful, he won't give you any BS and he knows his stuff.

If you do a lower service, its cheap and easy, if you are in any way mechanically minded, rockshox are a doddle to self service, just download and follow their manual to the letter.
I find that roackshox air shox are less reliable than their coil forks, but, if you do a lower service, there is no need to take any of the air spring or damper apart.
