a bloody big shed?
322?
that looks solid.... heavy, but solid.
Must be an Orange - the swingarm and dropouts appear to be identical to the existing 224 Evo, but the shock mount is obviously very different. Maybe a 2012 proto?
Where did you see the pics?
well Orange just tweeted the 2nd one 😉
i bet that has rubbish suspension/braking downhill....certain Mags will give it 10/10
It's the new Orange DH prototype. Orange has been tweeting about it.
I think the MTBCut team are on them this year. Think it is called the 322 according to MTBcut posts.
Looks more agricultural than the Cotic Hemlock 😐
Looks very intresting
So they're not going to run the linlage as seen on a number of Strange prototype 225's that have been knocking about or is it a slightly shorter travel freeride frame, kind of a new Patriot 7+ 😕
I think it's a full on dh bike.
Looks good either way, just slightly surprised they're not going down the linkage driven shock route.
Its an Orange DH proto that is lighter than the 224 and MTB Cut will be running them. There have been hints it will be called a 322 but that could be MTB Cut just banding around random numbers.

Is that black bit just a BB protector/chainguard? At first thought it was some suspension component, but don't think so now.
Looks like a tractor
Just a chain guide Molegrips, front end does look lighter with beefier swingarm and mounting for the pivot and shock mount
molgrips - it'sa taco bashguard, part of the chain device designed to take hits instead of grounding out the chainring. removable via ISCG mounts
<EDIT> too slow
Congratulations Orange for making another ugly single pivot bike
Its all over their facebook page if anyone wants the proper info.
None (2012 anyway) production, MTBCut team (+ a few others) only frame. More squishy suspension or something due to the shock angle.
Looks very intresting
Another single pivot from Orange, it looks very uninteresting. Unless you spend all your time watching paint dry?
I think it will be interesting to ride, as the 224 is a fantastic bike it will be interesting to see if it can be bettered.
Does that shock mount allow them to use a longer shock then?
Read the reports on it.. interesting. That cut out in the downtube for the shock would seem to be a very subtle piece of design.
It allows a long enough shock without having to position it so it gets softer at the end of the stroke.

Looks like a 3.5" stroke shock
http://www.singletrackworld.com/2011/03/new-orange-downhill-prototype/
this answers most it, no shock length though working with simpler shocks is interesting would like to test one with a Dueler on it as quite similar to Van RC but with high and low speed as well as ifp pressure.
anything sounds interesting if you have a thesaurus on hand, a bike company with a "not much change is good" attitude and trying to better their own average design on a clearly out dated suspension linkage.
I'm going to go sit on my vpp linkage and make pow pow noises

Looks like a good way to get a folding bike with a suitable impact...

The quality of a design is not proportional to the amount of linkage.
Their design has some strong points going for it, and is popular. So why would they stop making it to be like everyone else?
This is a neat and rather clever evolution of their design. Did you read the blurb?

Subtle? Brutal. I like brutal. 🙂
any one reckon the gear cable is a tad long on the last image?
They seem to find it very difficult to make a good looking bike. Hideous.
It's subtle because of the way it changes how the shock activates - without any extra linkages. I like economical design.
Plus I don't give a flying crap what my bike looks like. Why would I? It's a bike not a garden gnome. Ride the f'in thing you ponce 🙂
Are Gnomes ever nice?
fugly and I bet indestructible
Nah, means riding an Orange. I'll carry in being a ponce.
