[Closed] What's the highest altitude you've ridden at?

I bought some soon after as I figured my radness was nearly up to 7/10 and thus justified them.

The highest I've ever ridden is the sdw between brighton and eastbourne, so 'not very' is the honest answer. Cummulatively it gets quite high though 😉

12000ft/4000m in Colorado.
Alps is less than half that in the common biking areas, been up to about 2000m in Les Arcs.

5416m ... Thorong La Pass .. Yak Attack race this year 🙂

3300m at the mega. Crap by the above standards but there you go.

The lowest I get is about 900m and the highest locally is generally about 1,800m but I've been up to 2,000m. Not quite the the oxygen needed heights seen above. 😉

The second highest point in Britain, although if you believe some Aviemorons then the highest point in Britain (Ben Macdui)

Is there an online map which gives altitude when you click on a mountain-top? I know where I've been, I just don't know what it was called.

Personally, over 4,000m in Bolivia. Shame no one's trumped the OP yet, starting the thread and showing off just isnt on.

I do have a friend who's carried an exercise bike to the south col of Everest at just under 8,000m for a BBC show, I'll see if I can get him to put wonny j in his place.

I've been over Khardung La as well so I've tied with the OP at least.

I also went to the world's highest flushing toilet which is slightly elevated above the pass so it's at least 5340m. I did a great big dump in it.

3000m in the t'halps innit.

PQ, who used to be a forum member and who likes long solo expeditions on the bike, tells of a ride in India where he took a 2-day detour to ride what is widely advertised throughout India as being "the highest road in the world". When he got to the top his GPS unit disagreed. He had ridden 2 much higher passes in the previous week.

Don't believe the publicity kids.

..I have heard there is a higher pass in the world but in a region that you really wouldn't want to visit 🙂 .. not at moment anyway.

Recently at Mammoth, California = 11,053 feet (3,369 m).

Gunsight Pass nr Crested Butte CO - 12,100ft - we were seeing stars at the top! (shortness of breath)

would love to do some of the Himalayan passes

about 3000-3500m at a guess in Peru... high enough to get me all out of breath anyway, which doesn't happen very often 🙂

My flat is 600m to begin with so i travel up to 1800m for most of my rides.

well... i've pedaled about 20 metre's at top of the Thorong La pass, as have some others here. I soon gave the bike back to the little Nepalese man, who was making me look like a fool with my gasping and throwing up a lung. He pedaled off seeming unaware of the ridiculous height and lack of oxygen.

I returned to my cup of tea, and spliff.

best i have done was 2,950 in Verbier, col de gentiannes, at least i rode from the valley floor at 820m

14000 ft at Brian Head - Utah but not today - severe weather and snow at 10000ft - poo

Did they really ride up Kilimanjaro, I assume they carried their bikes up the scree from the base camp? And you'd need Macaskill trials skills to reach the true summit on a bike. Bikeradar says they also rode the Snowdon Horseshoe, another exageration I guess. It might "only" be an easy scramble, but it isnt rideable (I'd even challenge Macaskill and Leech to do it).

Respect though, I tend to use ski lifts and gondolas to get above 1,000m
