As per title - Peaty's seemed to be recommended on Hunt's website when I was looking at wheels, to quote:

"Stirring up the tyre sealant game is newcomer – Peaty’s Sealant. The non-toxic, non-hazardous sealant is revolutionary in that it does not dry out or ‘ball-up’ like many of its alternatives. The degradable pellets mixed into the sealant are not ‘just’ for looks but to aid in sealing up larger tyre gashes/holes."

What do people use with reliability and a bit of value thrown in?

Need valves and fluid.

milKit valves make running tubeless a bit more civilised and seem to resist clogging better than normal ones.

They work with every sealant except the Stans Race which has loads of chunky bits in it that can't get through the syringe.

Sealant seems to be one of those things that every product out there has at least one person who's has a bad experience with it. I use the Finishline stuff and have nothing but good things to say about it but I know that opinion is far from universal, the trick seems to be to use a decent amount of it.

Stans still seems to be one of the more reliable options but being latex based has the same drying out, clogging and general faffiness that I went over to Finishline to get away from in the first place.

I’ve used both stans valves and DT Swiss ones - both worked as they should. I find after a year or so the core can get clogged with sealant - but you can buy bags of replacement cores really cheap on eBay.

Only used Stan’s sealant in the just over 2 years of being tubeless. In that time I’m not aware I’ve had any punctures, either thorns etc or pinch ones. Pre-tubeless I’d have had a number of pinch punctures in that time - especially on my hardtail.

I use Peaty's. It's been good - never dried out for me, and seems to spread out nicely across the inside of the tyres because it's thick. Only thing I'd say is that the recommended doses seem too small in my experience - I put quite a bit more in than they say.

My tuppence worth... Valves, the least complicated easiest to clean the better. Straight through hole and a bag of spare valve cores like Joe mentions is better than a clog proof valve. If your rims will fit it Am Classic valves are the best, otherwise your regular conical based ones work fine. Bear in mind new DT swiss rims have a tiny hole in them that suits Am Classic valves more than the cone style.

Sealant; if it doesn't dry out don't bother I reckon. Anything that claims a long life generally wont seal all that well long term - works ok on day 1, but will unseal/reseal as it sees fit long term. Stans is good, Joes is fine, any of the rebadged Joes work fine too.

I use Orange Endurance.

Had a weird-have snakebite-like puncture it wouldn't seal - I ended up sticking a tube in as the placement meant the anchovy was weird/difficult to get in.

Other than that, it's been fine - stops small punctures very quickly, often so I don't notice a drop in pressure.

Iv used Stans for years and found it to be brilliantly fast at sealing up new tires and plugging thorn punctures. Bigger snake byte punctures generally need a plug but I'm sceptical that anything could seal a big tear on its own.

Recently moved to finish line sealent as it was recommended to last a lot longer in the tyre (which was my only gripe with Stans). Its a much thicker, gloopier substance and Iv found it takes a lot longer to seal up a new tyre. I almost lost patience with it but after about 3 days of going flat overnight it does eventually seal. I bought rather a large bottle and I didn't want to waste it so I have it in about 6 different wheels now. Been running it for a fair few months and after this weekend I can confirm it does seal both thorn punctures and big snake bite tears (again with a plug). No where near as quick as Stans but we got there before the tyre fell off the bead.

So its not completely useless but doesn't seal anywhere near as quick as Stans. Hopefully it will pass the long life test and prove its worth in the long run.

I just use the cheapest valves I can find on ebay. They often come with a choice of cap colours. Never seem to cause any problem.

I've been using these valves, tbey have been spot on. Takes a week to be delivered. They are exactly the same as the ones that came on my American classic wheelsets.
