I’ve got a Fox Transfer & a bike yoke, & have no grumbles about either. I need another in 30.9 & 170mm+ drop. I don’t like reverbs. What’s the current dropper of choice?
Brand X for cheap and functional, one-up for a little bit nicer.
Brand X for value for money and reliability.
Although I recently have put a punt on a Limotec Alpha 1 from CRC.... It's not turned up yet and from the reviews the supplied cable and outer won't be used.
At the other end of the spectrum my other bike has a reverb AXS which has been faultless in the 18months of ownership - but then I'd bloomin hope it would for the cost.
OneUp cos it has a low stack height so you get more drop if you're tight on space. Or just because I have one and it's great 🙂
Brand X out of stock
Brand X followed by OneUp is space is limited.
I've got a Brand X on my old bike and a OneUp on my new one. Both good and reliable.
I need a 34.9 post for my commencal so thinking of going for a oneup myself. Shame the 240mm ain't in stock
Oneup and as long as you can get it. They're good quality, reliable, and long, that's about all I ask.
(Bikeyoke are still the best quality option but they're just too expensive these days)
If you have £££ - bike yoke
Otherwise one up
Another one for one up. If nothing else, they're really easy to service at home. I also have a fox, that's been faultless for five years, but they're twice the money.
Have Bikeyoke gone up in price hugely recently? I've got one on my Enduro and it's pretty bloody good.
I have Fox Transfer 2021 model on the new bike, ridden about 30-40hrs and occasionally it does not not want to extend from half mast and needs to be sat down and then extended. Previous bike purchased at 2017 had old Transfer which never needed service over 800hrs of riding.
LBS guys grumbled something about newest Transfer causing lot of warranty issues.
Have both BikeYoke and OneUp, the OneUp isn't quite as smooth but gets pretty close. The OneUp lever is crap though, and it's just as expensive as the BikeYoke one. I'd have a BikeYoke lever with a OneUp post, that's almost all of the performance for the lower price.
I have Pnw on two bikes. It was that, one up or brand x. At the time the cost/fit/availability favoured the PNW and I liked it enough to buy another.
Bontrager remote though, if you need one
I have the Planet X Selcof job that came with my bike. I honestly expected it to be utter bobbins but it’s pretty good. Big lever too which I like. I also have. One Up which is faultless.
I’ve just serviced my Bikeyoke after ~5yrs. Took about 30mins. and ten of that was grinding down a spanner so it would fit. A clean, grease and fresh oil and I think it’s good for another 5yrs.
id buy another if I needed one.
Brand X if you're after bang for buck.
I've had a 170mm v1 Oneup post for about 2 years now - aside from needing to top up the air pressure every so often it has been flawless - would happily buy the same again - easy to fit too - the short stack height is great if you have a kinked seat tube
I've just bought a 170mm Brand X for my hardtail and so far that seems to be decent - opted for this as I managed to get a good deal via the wiggle ebay store (tri-sport-resort) and having heard so many good things about them
KS Lev have always been good for me - don't know what their current offerings are though
PNW Loam, and Brand-X before. Prefer the PNW due to lower stack height, and you can shorten it by 25mm if it's too long.
Which reminds me, need to sell my 30.9mm 200mm PWN loam post as just swapped frames.
I have a One Up on my current bike and its been great, had a Brand-X on a previous and it was pretty good too. I my next frame was 30.9 or 31.6mm I would probably be on one of those. If I had something 34.9mm I think I would have to bare the cost of a Bikeyoke and go for a Reive Max for the larger stanchion (Being of a heavier disposition!)
I'm so addicted to droppers i probably use them just to drop off a curb.
I've got a 180mm Oneup and a 200mm Brand X.
The Oneup looks like it's made from nicer materials. It is about 2.5 years old and has needed servicing a fair bit, especially before I put a protector on it. I've had to replace the cartridge. I've also had to replace the top threaded cap and seal when that failed. That said, the parts are available and it's easy to work on. It has an air valve on the top. Sometimes it needs topping up. Easy but annoying.
The Brand X has done 1.5 years. All i've ever done is lube the collar - which sometimes takes a bit of work to get off. There's no air valve at the top, so I guess once it goes it's new cartridge time.
Given the Brand X was cheaper, i'd probably get it again over the Oneup.
As above, if space is tight I'd get the One-Up, if not - the Brand X.
Space is always tight for me, so I have 2x OneUp and 1x CrankBros Highline on my MTBs. Fitted a Brand X recently though and was very impressed.
Do you already have a lever? If not, I can recommend the Bontrager Line Elite to pair with either - very nice for the price.

Don't think so- they were always bloody expensive, but they used to have length on their side, so I swallowed the price. But now you can get long posts elsewhere I definitely wouldn't buy another, even though they are excellent.
