My brother wants me to find him a bike. £350 is max he wants to spend but doesn't want a BSO.

I'm trying to convince him that a second hand hardtail is the way to go and hes open to the idea, but before that are there any good deals out there that people can point me in the direction of?

Something like a carrera vulcan doesn't look all that bad...

Something from Decathlon?...

Or from Pauls Cycles...

Even if the kit is basic, this frame would be fine to upgrade as he wears bits out...

I'd say get the one with the best frame and forks, everything else can be changed for better later on.

Cube do some cheap entry level ones e.g. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/it/en/cube-aim-sl-27-5-hardtail-bike-2015/rp-prod125730

Specialized Pitch in the sale?

Both with decent frames so you can upgrade fork and parts as and when required.
