...with the seatpost at pedalling height?

Just wondering to myself, interested in what is the 'sensible' limit.

There is no sensible limit as there are faaaar too many variables.

What hardtail is it?
What terrain?
Are you a smooth rider?
What size tyres are you running?
Do you have front sus? If so, how much?
How heavy are you?
etc, etc.

At pedalling height? Not a lot, 2ft maybe on a suitably tough hardtail that I felt comfortable on. But drops to flat are a wonderful way of breaking stuff, and don't feel very nice. Drops to a nice transition are much better.

Uhh...

Not sure if you'd call that proper pedalling height, with regards to the saddle though..

Okey dokey. I'm comfortable (slow) wheelie dropping only about 1ft or so, but reckoned on 2, maybe 3 (i'm theorising here), max for me personally for a faster moving drop. I'm not the most gnar rider.

And surely it wouldn't be too hard to have hypothesised based on an 'averaged' HT spec, rider weight etc...?

evidence of previous 'just lift the front wheel up there and the back will follow, what could go wrong?' fail in evidence there.
