We have just moved house about ten miles inland which means I have cool mountains on four sides. Before we were by the sea which limited the mountains on two sides! This is my most local trail...

[img] [/img]

Scotroutes seems to have the doorstep challenge nailed as well!

We have been thinking of heading up your way later in the year.
So we might just take you up on that.

That was earlier this week.
Now they look like they've come off one of those bodies that's been in a peat bog for a few thousand years.

4 or 5 good pubs, 3 or 4 excellent Indian restaurants, a cricket ground, a rugby ground, Britain's best high street (officially, honest!) , where I work (10 mins away), several good friends, my campervan, etc

Darwen Tower is 10 minutes uphill, road and Bridleway if your fast or 20 mins if your me. Then it's Rivington beyond that. Also lots of little woodland bits I'm finding around Darwen.

Some nice rides. The rest of Darwen is a shithole though.

Calverley Woods, Esholt Woods and Shipley Glen...leading onto the moors via Bingley and Cottingley and beyond to Haworth, Oakworth, Oxenhope and Hebden. Out the other side of the Glen to Baildon, Ilkley and Stainburn.

Can also head towards Pudsey, or to Bradford and Spen Valley Greenway or Norwood / Halifax to Ainley Top and over to Mirfield / Huddersfield

The best we have is some bridleways around Stanwick Lakes. East Mids is shite for local riding hence the road bike. It does look nice around here in the summer though but it's dull to ride.

Good for bmx spots though. 2 concrete parks are a 10 minute drive away as is Adrenaline Alley.

This is not so good for riding but lovely to look at (taken from my lounge, which is directly above my front door):

but follow the coastpath round and you might find some cheeky coastal singletrack...

Dartmoor is an easy ride away too - covering my bases well I think!

Some great photos folks.

You know the sky might be blue here in paphos, Cyprus. But I miss the green in those pictures.
🙁
But I don't miss the wet that makes the green.

(view image for more detail)

not much in the way of trails around Munich... there are the trails along the river, but they are currently a bit of a mudfest. being mostly flat with a few short (20m) climbs and decents you need to be a bit of a whippet on a whippet bike to make the most of them. i am neither a whippet or have a whippet bike.

All this (looking down)Driest County in Scotland... 🙂

Miles of sandy loam singletrack inland a bit...

Back on the coast we got dunes...

And miles of techie rocks on the coast at low tide below that flat sandy stuff folk say is boring to ride on those freakin fatbikes

And if you don`t like sand and like roots... 😉

On the doorstep? At the rented house is next doors car parked just far enough onto the pavement to stop anyone getting past with a pram, at the other one that we've just bought is a garden that resembles day of the triffids.
