You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So, in a sleep deprived state of stupidness I decided to "have a go" at replacing the bearings on my Intense Tracer VP 2010. The bearings are absolutely knackered so inevitably the ones I've removed have come out in bits.
I've now decided that I don't have the tools nor skills to remove the remaining bearings and fit new ones.
The trusted lbs would charge about £120-£130 to do it for me, including parts.
What I'm trying to work out is - is it worth doing?! How much could I expect to get for the frame once it's had new bearings fitted?
Ta
Nah, just throw it away. It's worthless.
On second thoughts, you could send it to me! I'll pay postage too!
Tbh, I would suggest that you have another go when you have had some kip. A cheap puller and a bodged together press are pretty easy to source and it is a far nicer frame than any I own.
Couldn't imagine letting it die for the sake of a bearing change even if its only worth a couple of hundred as is.
I know someone who picked a 2011 one for 400 in fairly good nick.
Cdoc - I don't really have the time (mini RRR number 2 arrived 2 weeks ago hence the sleep deprivation!)
You don't fancy buying all or part of a 2010 intense tracer with XT groupset and Lyrik solo air rc2dh? The bearings may or may not need a little work 😀
You may have just moved into the I've already started it hourly rate...
The idea is very appealing, but I switched to hardtails only as my old mk1 tracer destroyed bearings like it was a design feature (well, that and it seemed to have rear wheel steering when pushed hard)!
I am sure that there will be plenty interested if you pop it on the classifieds, though.
