No idea where to start - had a bit of a scan of t'internet but any recommendations or bikes to avoid? Won't be racing but I have a mixed on / off road commute that would suit a CX bike perfectly 🙂

Have a look on Evans at the Pinnacle Arkose 3, currently reduced to £900 I think too

Kinesis pro6 worth a look too.

Worth considering 2015 bikes due soon and many will be 11 speed 105, not 10 speed. Think the new arkose 3 is anyway.

Graham how's the rose dx? Tempted as mixed winter road/cross bike

I likes it. 😀

I don't have a lot to compare it to mind as it is my first road/cx/commuter bike in a very long time, but I will say that it feels comfy and copes equally well with tarmac and bridleway.

I run it with 28c Conti 4 Seasons which work very well for my mixed surface commutes and are plenty fast enough on pure road runs. But it can take much larger tyres if you fancy 35c Racing Ralphs or something.

Having disc brakes (Avid BB7s on mine) is a big plus point for a bike I use in all weathers too.

Good weight and high-spec components for the price (I went for the 4400 SRAM 2013 version).

Only real downside has been the PressFit BB, which started creaking after less that 2000 miles.

I would wait 2-4 weeks. You will then either have the choice of the 2015 models, or the option of the discounted 2014 models.

Wow, I bet there's a real benefit to be had there!

Dez I agree little difference. But means future proof as everything goes 11spd and if shimano hydro wanted further down line avoids new everything rather than just new levers.

Guessing tiagra etc will all go 11 next year

I bought a Pinnacle Arkose 3 a couple of months ago on C2W. I really like it, does all that I want it to very well. £900 seems a fair price for one.

Press-fit is just a bad design.
