I've got a set of planet x a57 wheels on my commute that I've had for about 4 months. The rear wheel has developed serious play so thinking this must be the cones I tightened them up a touch. Put the wheel back on the bike and it still has masses of play. The hubs don't feel like they've got any play in them at all, the cassette doesn't have any wobble so what the hell is going on.

I've tried the wheel in a different bike - just the same, a different qr and just the same.

I'm tempted the bin the wheel and its doing my head in.

Any ideas?

Axle will have Collapsed most likely.

I had the same with a R500 back wheel, just couldn't fathom out what was wrong with it.It was like it was coming out of the drop outs all the time.

I've had the wheel to bits and the axle is fine. Seriously annoying.

Replace the bearings, thats what happened to my spesh on the front wheel.

They do wear out sometimes quite fastly.
