You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I'm doing an xc race in a few days, so the DHRs are coming off and something quicker is going on. Digging through the garage, this is going to be either a minion SS (heavy but fast rolling) or a nobby nick (significantly lighter but also nobbier). Which is more likely to make me win?
Subjective/opinionated answers only please. No science here.
*obviously neither, unless nobody else shows up.
Minion SS if it's dry nobby if its wet
Been running the Minion SS for a few weeks now and really impressed by just how fast it rolls. If it stays dry and you don't have any loose climbs I'd go for that one!
If you get solid tyres you'll go 46% faster
I'm not buying more tyres. Then I'd have three to choose from.
Wet? What's that?
The SS seems fine pretty much everywhere. Except for braking on loose trails when a walker appears from nowhere. Oops. But is it better than a much lighter tyre for a race?
Minion on the back, Nic on the front.
Except for braking on loose trails when I'm going too fast on a shared trail
😀
What carcasses? NN is pretty fast rolling for what it is...
I'd say all things being equal, the NN will be faster and grippier - assuming similar construction/compounds (the Ikon is racier than the Ardent, right? And I assume maxxspeed is the fastest rolling one...)
