Currently have a prophet with a RP3 and lyriks wound down to 140mm but i fancy a burlier frame to better suit the forks and be good for my planned alps trip.

As ever s/h prices need to be sensible, up to £500 and it would be good if it was ok for at least along if not up

So what would you recommend?

Got an SX trail I could be pursuaded to part with for that money, which would suit lyrics perfectly. medium frame size, used but not abused.

email in profile and ill set you up with some pics - some suitable parts around too

it once looked like :

Got a small cove G spot frame with DHX 5 that would be looking for about £300ish for. Is well ridden and got quite a lot of scrapes, but is solid as you like. Had it built up with 36s, so would be good with lyrics.

Is a bit much for lots of xc, but be great for the alps. I used to ride it up the mountains on the North Shore in Vancouver and have ridden it round Afan and simalar things.

Check out the reviews

Giant Reign X - had mine for a couple of years now and its dones everything - Whistler, Alps, Fort William DH, big all day rides in the Highlands, trails centres all over the country. Pedals really well, gets you up everything with minimal fuss then behaves like a DH bike on the way down. 170mm travel matched up with some Fox 36s at 160mm on the front. Lovely.

Sure you could find a frame second hand for £500 with a bit of looking on ebay.

EDIT - just spotted this on ebay, Buy it Now for £450. I'm 5'8" and ride a small with no bother but probably on the upper limit.

I had one, was persuaded to sell it, really regret it, best FS frame I've ever had, I'm 6ft and liked it small so had a 16".

I've got a 2004 Patriot frame (16") with 5th element coil platform shock, for which I bought a set of Lyriks. Frame and shock both in good nick for age. Now looking to sell frame and shock, can do pics if interested.

Please don't buy that frame yet, it's identical (pretty sure it is the exact one) frame to the one I sold which was stolen a month ago, have contacted the person I sold it too but it is possible it's stolen. I will let you know.

a 2005 or 2006 Spec Enduro with a coil shock. 150mm travel, long and low and comes with ISCG mounts too. Or maybe a Commie Meta 6.
