Ideally, I'd like it to take 2-3 bikes. I don't really want to spend more than £100.

I've got a Thule Euroclassic towbar mounted rack for my E90. It is very good but was significantly more than £100 unfortunately..

What style of rack are you looking for? A strapped type one or towbar mount?

I have an E90 & went the Westfalia removeable Towbar (£300) & Thule Euro something Bike Rack (£250) route. Great kit but pricey.

Ive had it for 5 years now & only needed a fuse on Towbar replacing, not sure what options you get for £100? not many id imagine.

Sure you want a bike rack directly on your paint?

Halfords Hi-Mount worked well on my alfa 156 as you can tilt the top section back at the same angle as the rear window - which aids security of bike attachment and also maybe aerodynamics.

Also keeps the bikes up clear of the rear number plate and lights, which is good for legality...

Hmm, I think that a towbar mounted rack will be well out of my price range, so would need to opt for a strap type.

By the way, does anyone have any experience of getting a mountain bike inside the E90 saloon? Would it fit with the wheels off in the boot alone? I do have the option of the fold-down seats, so could also do that.

do you have a towbar ? Thule do a cheap one that takes a couple of bikes - although you would need a lightboard for it.

Mine goes on the back seat of an E46. Both wheels off and in wheels bags into the boot, bike upside down in a bike bag, old blanket on the seat and maneuver.

I've also used a roof rack, and a Saris Bones 3 bike rack but that marked the bodywork despite some chamois in-between.
