Heard a ping at about 50k on Sunday. Managed another 50k back to home with it chirping off front mech......refused to stop and look ignorance is bliss but had a fair incline as to what it was.
Didn't take long to find the above. And about
10 other links with cracks in similar place.
Quick Google reveals quite common for ultegra 11s
Summer bike -its done 2800km piss poor for a chain.
Always ran SRAM chains(usually 1091 hollowpins) without issue ..these(well the pc1170) still work with Shimano on 11s ?
Wow! I've got significantly longer than that out of previous Ultegra chains, but only on my 'summer' bike which actually spends most of its life on the turbo 😕
Someone posted an article ages ago showing relative durability of various chains. The one that stood out to me was the YBN SLA which I'd never heard of before. They do chains for everybody including Planet X so I took a punt on this one

Putolined it up and stuck it on gravel bike. All seems good so far but barely 500km on it so doesn't really tell you much.
KMC X11-93... I've never had good experiences with Shimano chains (other than the shift quality when they're brand new). SRAM 11spd don't seem to last all that long (their 12spd chains are a marked improvement), had horrific experience with Connex's, tried YBN and PYC briefly...
Basically, I always come back to KMC... 👍🏻
I use Ultegra 11 speed chains but they don't look like that, they have solid links. That looks like a 10 speed 6700 chain (which I also use). Are there various levels of Ultegra 11 speed chains?
C11 all the time.
Playing nicely with HG-800 cassette.
Cheers!
I.
Hang on..

eagle eye colin .
its supposed to be an ultegra chain on the spec sheet (was a complete bike)
looking closer this is a KMC.
Haha cross posted.
So - we have ultegra that are common for it and i have a kmc that has done the same ....
So whats next.
cant see which KMC this is - appears to be an SL plates but solid pins.
I was under the impression that KMC make the Shimano chains.
