I did the SDW in a day this year - it was emotional and it’s left me with a bit of a ‘taste’ for these marathon type events (I did the L2BOR and was completely underwhelmed).
So any suggestions for something similar to follow on from the SDW? (Not the double - amazing effort - just not my thing) preferably a day event with nothing too technical - just a few hills and good scenery.
I’ll probably sell my Cotic Soul next year and replace it with something more suited to this type of riding - a Whyte S120 looks favourite so far.
Any suggestions on an event/s? I’d prefer something organised with support stops etc.
Thanks.
Been a while since I did this but was a good day out and it's like being abroad just without the sunshine!!
Mikewsmith - thanks that looks pretty good.
How challenging would you say it is in comparison to the SDW?
Dorset Gravel Dash for a fine day out - afterwards in the Red Lion
Never done the SDW!! and last time I did the E2E was a good few years back, decent XC riding really, bit of a road slog to start but somebody who has done it more recently should be able to help!!
Thanks chaps
The second event in the Scott Marathon has a 100k Monster Marathon route around the west end of the Brecons.
Cheers for the heads up Kryten. Both of the first two rounds of the Scott marathon series will be awesome. Builth is a beast of a ride and that monster route on rd 2 just has to be done. To the OP as someone else who loves the SDW I can unreservedly recommend these events.
Jennride!
Sandstone Way?
It's a 2-dayer really 180/200km.
And being in Northumbria may be a bit far for you to travel to? It's not that technically challenging. But there is some stunning scenery and lots of climbing.
Dirty Reiver?
Another vote for the grand raid. Really awesome race.
Grand raid is good. I preferred the Sella ronda hero.
Algarve Bike Challenge is good fun for a weekend.
