What 2nd hand XC Ti frame for a 6ft lad with with unfeasonably long legs, to run 100mm forks?

Has to be Ti, his choice, he already has a Ti Litespeed & is flogging a Superlight frame to bankroll it, so £550-700 price range?

If he has a Litespeed already then presumably it is an Obed?

Ti frames are for attentionwhores.

And for those who are having a mid-life crisis 🙄

are you saying that what he needs?

No, the Obed takes a longer fork, 120 recommended but I demo'd one with a 140.

I have an Ocoee and it takes a 100. I love it 8)

Does that mean I've had four midlife crisisis then?

Well, seems some folk consider mid-life to be aged 40 but, in extreme cases, 30. 😯

Others just reckon one bike is not enough 😉

I do apologise! Can't see that you would get a secondhand Litespeed for that money really but they do turn up in the Classifieds sometimes, road ones too.

price might well be the limiting point.. but he's skint due to building himself a house, and just doesn't want the Superlight (under-used but 2 years old - hense my price expectation).

If he has no money, and has a Litespeed of some ilk and a Superlight, why in the **** is he buying another ti bike?

Tsk, if only, my Tellico never got over 270 on stealbay, so i took it off. That's a 6/4 frame too, none of your re-cycled Jamie Oliver frying pan cheapo 3/2.5 rubbish! 8)

Njee20 cause he doesn't use/want the superlight, but main the parts could be move onto a donor frame, a hardtail which he would use.

His preference is for Ti, so he asked me what he could get, your thoughts?
(he doesn't want a carbon ht)

I've run 80mm and 100mm forks on my Zion and it works well with either.

But Ti frames are no more expensive than your average aluminium FS frame.

So what do we call you lot?

I'd say 500 quid would get you a decent 2nd hand Litespeed. Remember that if they are second hand they were more than likely bought when the exchange rate was better, so would of been a lot cheaper than now.

That, and the Tellico was superseeded by the Tanasai in about 1999! Just because a frame's ti doesn't mean it holds its value forever! 63mm forks a v-brakes presumably? £270 sounds reasonable!

My thoughts? I would never buy a ti bike. I'll have a cheaper, lighter, stiffer carbon frame 🙂

I would recommend he look for a second hand Merlin/Litespeed/Serotta/Seven though personally.
