Quick question for you guys, its simply a gut what would you type question.
I have a on-one race 29er built up with mostly XX. Its a great ride and would be perfect for racing (if I did any racing) but its not a huge amount of fun (the reason I love mountain biking. I built it up for a MTB race series that I never ended up doing much of. But I will probably be doing some cross triathlon racing next year, which it will be perfect for.
In search of more fun I bought a Niner RIP 9 full suss frame, I havent built it up yet, I have a whole set of X9 parts that are going to go on it.
But, I have hit a financial problem, no shes not pregnant but I want to buy a house.
So I am considering selling one of the set of parts (including the forks) and building up the niner frame for winter fun then when I do do the cross triathlon I'll switch them back over.
So, my question is, would you sell all the XX stuff as it will make more money and be happy with using X9?
Or keep the fancy XX stuff, risk ruining it over winter and make a small amount of money with the X9 stuff.
I know what I'm like, I like my fancy bits, my road bikes are built up with sram red only. But my mountain bike rarely gets used these days, so it seems pointless.
So, a bit of a pointless question really, just thought I would do a quick canvas to help me make up my mind!

I don't know how to break it to you but a house costs alot more than a second hand groupset - even a XX one.

But basically I have my half of the deposit and am waiting for the other half to save hers over the next few months. But having recently changed jobs I am spending more that I am making, so I need a bit of money to help tide me over for the next few months until I pick up more work! So I don't have to dip into my savings.
Sell both and get XT.
Or sell everything and get a SS MTB, nothing to wear out then.
If you ride enough to constitute traing over the winter then whatever you use will be trashed by next Spring.
Mix and match. The only really expensive (consumable) part of XX is the cassette, so sell that, and use X.9, then use the rest of the XX stuff.
