Hi all,
I'm thinking of selling my 2009 Santa Cruz Blue XC - it's 26inch wheels and I haven't ridden it for ages so seems a waste sitting in my shed. Where's the best place to sell and any ideas what I might get for it? It's XT equipped with a Marzocchi Bomber Marathon SL fork.

P.S. thinking of getting all modern with a Whyte 901 or Bird Zero!

Thanks
Steve

Sold a 2012 carbon lt frame for about £200, similar for a nomad of that era. And that was nearly 2 years back.

I was happy those bikes went to people who would enjoy them.

Search ebay for completed listings and see what they sold for.

Be prepared to be disappointed, unless you can be as selfless as mike.

If you really do want it to go to a good home, perhaps find a youth group or charity who want to do MTB activities and need help with equipment??

10 year old bike with suspension components that are unlikely to be serviceable any more and can't be replaced with anything more modern due to changing standards?

£200?

Sorry.

prices for old santa cruzs on ebay are very high. Not sure what they actually go for though.

PMSL!!!! Really, Really they sold out of O Rings? The price you reckon is spot on but come on not for those reasons, I was looking for metric shocks last year, they are damm hard to find used apart from complete povo spec ones

^ Bear in mind that Marzocchi have changed ownership twice during that time and I'm pretty sure Marzocchi in Canada didn't service forks that old, and that's before Fox took over. Of course 32mm seals are still available from various sources, but if something has actually broken in the fork then be prepared to kiss it goodbye. There's more in forks than O-rings 😉

But yeah the bike's not worth much. Too new to be collectible and too old and dated (geometry wise) to be desirable.

I sold my 26 Yeti 575 for 750 about 4 years ago. This thread is making me feel a lot better about that transaction than i did at the time.

I'm keeping hold of my mk1 monad which is in pretty good.condition. hoping it will be seen as a classic / retro and be worth something in the future. get tempted every now and then to take it out as I don't have a fs but the reality is it's too small for me (hence.the good.xondition!)

with the 3/8 shock bush only available from BETD,and the linkage bearings so expensive, it is hard to justify keeping one, now theres so much newer stuff about. If it was an LT and took a longer fork, maybe a bit different, but the XC was built for a max 100mm fork

been watching prices on and off for quote a while. complete santa cruz older bikes go from 400-800 all the time on ebay.. depends on equipment level and condition. still need to get aorund to selling my old '09 superlight. if its high spec'd its more likely worth splitting/parting out if you have the time.

from what i've seen chameleons actually seem to do quite well

Have a look at the sold listings on EBay rather the the optimistic listed ones.

Anyone want to sell a decent old size small FS for £200? A friends's oldest boy is saving up £260 for a hardtail frame and forks to hang some shonky old parts off but I'm sure he'd be delighted with a full sus with hydros instead!

£200

Sounds right.
And correct - there are some strange "high" offers in ebay. No idea if they sell for that.
