I know its the middle of summer but time to start looking... I'd like something that can do MTB, Road and Commuting duties for the coming winter. I have coped with an Aldi soft-shell special for the last wee while but would like to treat myself to something that is a better fit, more breathable and cope with all but the most persistent rain. Ideas?
My Gore softshell has been fantastic over the years. When it finally (ever?) gives up the ghost I'd not hestitate to get a new one. Bit of a price jump from the Aldi one mind!
Gore Windstopper Soft Shell - I have a Gore Fusion Tool which breathes well but has taped seams over the shoulders which will withstand a heavy downpour. Only downside is it can be too warm, so strictly a winter jacket. Often find great deals on Amazon.
Hagloffs boa. Breathes better than the gore phantom, but lacks the reflectives if that's important.
