Hello,
I'm looking at keeping the weight low, and thinking of Hope Pro2s, laced to either:
XC717s
XM819s
Stans 355s
I'm not sure whether to run tubeless, with some light Maxxis eXception series tyres. The XM819s are 50g heavier than XC717s, but no rim strip needed (45g +).
Or... should i stick with tubes and a light tyre?
Help well appreciated!
Thanks
Ricks
I have set of nearly new Hope Pro 2s laced to 719 rims with DT Swiss DB spokes. The hubs are blue and the front is a 20mm axle although you can get converters for other axles. Let me know if you are interested.
you cant beat the hope hoops for value, especially if you can get your lbs to price match winstanleys. any of those rims will be good. i personally like the stans but mavics are ace too, as is tubeless.
So your question is actually "should I go tubeless?". Lots of threads, do a search.
819s are 75gm heavier once you've added the ferrules.
Hope Hoops on 355s, lightest out of the choices there, run tubeless really nicely.
If you're building yourself, then get ZTR Alpine or Crest rims with Revolution spokes if you're not a porker and the weight really does matter, be a fair bit more expensive than the Hope Hoops though for little gain.
