I have a Pinnacle Arkose. I think it's a two, from about 2015. The yellowy green one with 1x10 and hydraulic brakes.

Anyway it's ace - it's my 'everything else' bike and has done well over 4,000 miles of commuting, farm tracks, singletrack, back roads and more since I got it (second hand).

But the stock Alex wheels have finally given up the ghost. Well, the rear hub has. So I'm after replacing them.

Trouble is, I know nothing about gravel wheels.

So what's good at the budget end of the market? Needs to be 700c, run 38 - 45mm tyres and be QR both ends (which a quick Google suggests might be a sticking point).

All recommendations appreciated!

I have a 2015 arkose and the Alex rims died about 4000, so I switched to using it for road for a few years, then last year bought Hunt gravel rims and it's now back fully CX/gravel set up. QR sorted by Hunt.
They cost me£320

I just got some Ryanbuildswheels.co.uk 'Factotum Gravel' wheels, seem good though I've only done 1 ride thus far. They've now brought out some narrower 'Factotum Endurance' wheels which I might have bought instead if they were out a few weeks ago! People on here seem to recommend them a fair bit, hence I got them.

I put some Shimano RX010 wheels on my 2015 Arkose. Had no problems with them. Decent wheels for the money (around £100).

I put Hope 20five on mine. No regrets

Lovely, cheers all. I think the Hunt are edging it at the moment (Ryan and Shimano hubs are centrelock which would mean new rotors or adapters, plus I'd prefer sealed bearings and Hope are that bit more expensive) but the lead time is pretty long.

Mini hijack whilst this thread is talking about Arkose, I need to replace my BB but haven't taken the cranks off to see what I need (no tools) what should I be looking for?

Threaded on mine, can't remember if it's 68 or 73mm off the top of my head. Currently running a Shimano road HT2 BB. Mine is six years old though, might have changed since.

I'm sure it's 68mm. Well thats my memory and I have fitted one this year. Mine is now square taper

I think to get the old one off you need a tool for the cups and to get the cranks back on you need a preload tool. But obviously I never did put mine back on

Nearly new Hunt 4 Season Gravel X Wides (I think they're just new old stock) £321 from Hunt here: https://www.huntbikewheels.com/collections/nearly-new

I ordered a set on Thursday, they arrived on Friday. Great service.

My fork is a touch tight with 38c gravel kings on 20mm internal rims. So I'm not sure I've want want 25mm internal runs on that fork.

Rear 20five on my bike dinged badly on a fairly innocuous root on a path I’d been down many times on its second outing, seriously unimpressive.
I have a mavic allroad I am in the process of setting up to replace the hope, seemed quite cheap, mavic usually quite tough and qr as well.

Fronts a bolt through...
