You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So, new commuter/getting about/general usage bike being built.
Will be a Roadrat frame with Ultegra shifting and the new R780 flat bar shifters and XT disc brakes.
All I need to decide on is the wheels...
I need disc hubs obviously but struggling to find the ideal set.
Choices I'm looking at at the moment are XT hubs on either Open Pros or TN317 rims. However, I can't help think the TN317s are a bit heavy at 545g per rim but also think the Open Pros may not stand up to general every day use.
Any thoughts from people who have ridden either?
Also, anything else worth looking at?
I'll be using tyres between 28-35mm, all on road but that may include bouncing up and down kerbs. Budget would be £200 for a wheel set or £100 if I just by rims and build them myself?
Cheers all...
Crests on mine, spot on.
Do you not find the Crests a but wide with narrow road tyres on?
It will spend the summer with 28s on so I was looking at a 15 or 17 mm rim width. Looking at the Crests did lead me to Alpha 400s though..! Look perfect but over budget...
