.....a £1k carbon road bike ?
Have a new bike and although I'm very happy with it it seems the inevitable compromise is the wheels. Knowing not very much about road bike kit what would be a suitable upgrade for a bike of this price range in order to drop a few grams - new or nearly new.
What weight are the existing wheels and how much do you want to spend?
What's your budget?
I got Ksyrium Elites for my old £1k Boardman and they were by far the best upgrade I've ever made. Couple of years old now and still going strong with zero issues.
Ultegra 6800 wheels from CRC are a really good price and reasonable weight.
Lots of people recommend handbuilt wheels for easy maintenance, but I don't commute so my road wheels have an easier life than some - and factory wheels work well for me.
bit more than I wanted to spend really
What do you think of these from Merlin.....

As for hand built..... why are they easier to maintain?
Cant speak for road bike stuff but I can build my own MTB wheels so never shy of tweaking a wheel a couple of rides in once its settled down
