Quick question: I'm ordering a bleed kit and fluid so I call fit some new brakes - well second hand so they have been drained. How much oil do I need to fill front and rear completely? Cheers
Not a lot to fill them. It will depend slightly on the length of the hoses.
However it's not as simple as just filling them up, in my experience half of the minimum amount you need will end up on the floor and you need to push fluid through the system so you need more than you think, certainly more than the 50ml that comes with a bleed kit if filling up from empty.
I just order up a 1L bottle. It keeps and works out much cheaper in the long run.
As above, order a litre bottle. You have to bleed the system so will need much more than just the minimum to fill them.
Ok cheers for the answer. The kit comes with 100ml which I hope will at least get them setup but I'll order a larger bottle as well. It can join the other bottles of unconsumed specialist fluids I have in my cupboard 🙂
Another vote for the litre bottle. It doesn’t go off and is massively cheaper by volume. It’ll save you from any awkward decisions when it’s obviously not perfect but you only have fluid that’s been through the system left.
The little bottles that come with bleed kits are enough for a couple of bleeds (if nothing goes wrong) but if you have full purges because ends have been off it’s dicey.
