Increasingly i can see the value in having a vice in the workshop, for holding stuff like forks during a service etc
Nothing heavy duty, happy to have something off of eBay, but have no idea what to look for or what parameters are important. It won’t get used much, so cheap is fine. Desk is wood, and I’ll bolt the vice to it.
Can any of you help?
Proper British made Record vice. Even if it’s 100 years old and been buried underground for 50 years they can be as good as new with a clean, paint and grease. You don’t need one of the massive ones for bike stuff but why not if you can get one cheap!
Fervent self massage. Probably best fit a lock on the door though.
There are those on here with a vice vice.

😆
Decorative car key bowl?
Keep an eye on eBay etc for an old UK made Record especially pick up only in your local area. I managed to get a No.3 in great condition recently for £35 and I'm really happy to have paid that for such a solid vice.
+however many for an old Record - lovely thing to have and works a charm
I’ve got enough of ‘those’ vices without adding another! 😆😂
I’m not in the Uk, so posting might be a wee bit expensive for a record.
In general, for bike related duties are we talking 4”? 6”? Is a rotating base a useful thing to have?
No coke and/or hooker suggestions required 😁
Record 1 ton vice here, so useful for oddjobbing
