So, after my stupidity with my fork settings being fixed by speeding up the rebound, I'm now wondering what upgrades can be done to the fork and what would it add. Pretty sure it is an early 2020 model fork...bought last year.
I has Rebound and Compression on it - and if I turn the compression adjuster fully closed, then it locks the fork out.
I think it has the Charger damper in it - would upgrading that to a Charger 2 give me additional settings to play with? High-speed and low-speed compression (whatever those are)...
It is curiosity just now but may end up being done, but I don't do constant tinkering with the suspension, I get it set up, do some riding and adjust then it remains like that - the variety of terrain I ride isn't huge and it tends to be consistent so I don't really need to tweak things constantly. However, there is a bit of an appeal to having control over more things so they can all be adjusted.
So wondering, what can be done...
Charger 2.1 RC2 has high and low compression settings, RCT3 is basically the same as what you've got. albeit more refined.
PUSH do a damper mod for the Charger that might be a better option; https://www.tftuned.com/push-hc97-hypercharger-compression-system-upgrade-kit/p3621
Cool, thanks...off to do some reading!
Is there anything wrong with it? Do you feel like you need to tweak separate high and low speed compression settings? Not happy with the air spring? Have you already tuned it with tokens to suit?
Isn’t the Pike Select RC not a full charger damper - but something between MoCo and a full charger? This is assuming it’s the fork that was last years revelation charger rc.
@DickBarton - get Andy at Bike Doctor to help you set it up. He's brilliant, and helps after a service to get things working well. Jack had some input from him and it changed his settings, noticeably better riding now on his RC2 damper.
Nothing really wrong with the fork at all - it does what I need it to do - and it does it even better since I added more rebound to it (I had adjusted the setting the wrong way!).
So now I'm just wondering what else could be done to tweak the fork, if something as easy as setting the rebound to the correct position made such a difference. I suspect I won't notice a huge change with anything else, but I'm curious.
I'll maybe drop Andy an email and see if a chat can be arranged...ta.
The C1 air spring update might be worth a look - recent Pikes (and othes) have a tendency to suck down the first 5-10% of the travel but you can get a new air spring for about 40 quid or for recent models just change the internals for about 25. I've got the bits to do mine but haven't found time yet.
I’m now wondering what upgrades can be done to the fork and what would it add
Sell it and buy a mezzer pro.
Best thing for any fork is work out what it's doing that you don't want it to and what it's not doing that you do want it to, then talk to a suspension tuner.
I have the Lyrik RC2 on one bike, and the Lyrik RC on another.
I believe the latter is the same damper as yours and I have added the debonair air spring so that's v similar too.
TBH it's a great fork and as I'm of medium weight it works well in most situations. Can't get it as plush as the RC2 (now HSC dial), but the firmer feel suits the frame (Orange) well anyway.
I say leave it alone unless (an Onza says) you identify any issues you'd like to improve.
