looking to get new rubber, just done my 1st trip to laggan LOVED it will be back there soon! anyway we done black/upper red/lower red (and the woods section and the orange but my tyres didn't inspire me with too much confidence. currently am running the continental baron's the cheap wire ones.... they are great for mud clearance but for slippy rocks/roots not so much!

so am after something more suited for trail centers/freerides. that are good gripping on rocks and roots ect.....

not bothered that bothered if they are tubeless compatible or not i may try going tubeless if they are but am happy with tubes

whats anyone recommend/running?

thanks

calum

Rubber Queens. UST Black Chili. Does everything you need unless race downhill all the time or want to be competitive in XC.

Minion 2.35 in singleply supertacky is always popular, but not fast. Likewise Specialized's Butcher Control is superb- it's kind of like a downhill tyre for a trailbike. But again, draggy for everyday use, I've been using a pair on my trailbike for enduro-type stuff and it's great for the hard stuff but sometimes annoying for the easier stuff.

a pair of front minions. masses of grip on the top and the side and surprisingly good roll. so many options too- you want light and long-lasting, get the 60a singleply ones. you want mega grip? get the 42a supertacky ones. you want either of the above and indestructibilty, get either of the above in 2 ply. i just can`t see past them.

Second for Chunkey Monkeys. Got a 2.4 for the front last week and was aces on wet roots and rocks at Eastridge today. Bargain for the price.

What's a good tyre to stick on the back to go with the chunky monkey?
