I got Schwalbe G One Speed tyres on my Boardman ADV 8.9. The rear has now worn so there is no tread in the middle of it so it is time to replace. The tyres are 38mm. They cost £40-£50 each to replace and I don't want to be spending that money.

Main use is commute to work and road rides. Occasional gravel tracks but nothing to rough (and I have some treaded tyres if I want to do gravel in any case). Good puncture resistance is important with the commute to work.

Ideally would like something at least 32mm in width and if possible a bit faster rolling than them. Would like to spend £50 total on the two tyres.

I use GravelKings for a similar commute, but the 38c versions. About 28 quid each from Sigma Sports, so slightly over budget, but they've been great so far.

According to Strava, i have over 6000 kilometres on a set of Clement xplor UST. No way you would get that out of the Schwalbe ones.

I would buy them again.

Schwalbe CX Comp in 38c width. Quick enough, grippy enough, puncture resistant enough and incredibly cheap. It's what I use for commuting after deciding more boutique tyres just cost too much for simple tasks like that!

I got 32c gravel kings for mostly road riding with a smidgen of bridleway. Worth a look.

CX Comp are quite robust and cheap as chips.

Are the Gravel Kings any good on stony bridleways?

Vittoria Revolution G+ from Planet X. £9.99 each in 35c width.
I've put 2000km on a pair so far, and really rate them.
Fast rolling, good grip, no punctures (so far!).

My bike came with Spesh Espoir tyres, heavy and slick but have done 2 years without a puncture including off road trails etc.

Schwalbe Marathon Supreme are very puncture proof and last ages. Not too heavy, fairly quick. Available for about £25 each.

Clement USH in 32 x 700 might tick the box.
£20 from px, but didn't fit on my road bike so cannot judge its longevity.
£15 posted if you wanna try it? O

Cheers for the suggestions but think I am looking for something more road biased. Struggling to find much in 32c or similar format though. Are Conti Gatorskins any good?

swap with the front, - carcass is old Schwalbe One so robust with plenty of life left yet. If you have liked the G One Speeds (and I like mine), some of the above will sap your soul!

Gatorskins are terrible! I gave mine away I hated them so much. Durano's ride well. My old favourites for road were Corsa Pave, but Corsa Control is now the new Pave.

G one speed are good but can’t justify £50 a tyre and can’t find them cheaper

If you could stretch your budget a bit (or hunt around), how about Continental GP5000 in 32c? I don't think GP4000s came bigger than 28c, unfortunately - they're cheaper if you could live with 28

Another vote for Gravelkings. I've got them on my Slate. Pretty much slick so more biased towards road although surprising how much grip you have offroad, except in mud.

Cant find GP4000 or 5000 in my budget so think I will go for the Schwalbe. Merlin have it in 32mm wide. I could go down to 28 but doesn't look like any difference in rolling resistance but Derbyshire roads are pretty poor so comfort wins!
