After some tyres with the following:

26”
About 1.5”
Light tread
Folding

Something like SB8s would be ideal but they seem to be wired only…

Maxxis Crossmark are similar, the 2.1s measure up small...

I’ll have a look at them - thanks.

I’d be willing to look at wire bead tyres that don’t weigh a ton...

Maxxis Larsen TT's came in 1.9 I think, not sure if they are still available. Small block 8's maybe. Is there such a thing as 26" Cyclocross tyres?

SB8s would be the obvious choice, but are wired only (and have no published weight) 🙁

How light a tread? Compass do some 26 road tyres that are supposed to be crazy light and supple, but rather pricey

I was hoping for not too spendy as they’re for #1 spawn’s bike (which is a hybridy thing that she rides on tarmac and hardpack but nothing much rougher than that)

Those are a bit of a bargain, aren’t they? Not sure she need full-on mud tyres though…

Are Bonty LT3s any good (not folding, but still…)?

tyre 1

tyre 2

tyre 2 is folding

edit - both quite wide.

try these. they may not be folding but would not be that heavy and are narrow ( i think )

tyre 3

They do make SB8s in 26x1.5 which would be ideal if they were folding.

The fact Kenda don’t list a weight for them on their website also makes me suspicious.

Do they make Schwalbe Thunder Burts in 26?

I did check - I don’t think they do (or if they do, they’re wider than what I’m after).

This is turning into the promised unicorn hunt, isn’t it?

I have some of the Kendas on my commuter. They are not superlight, ( but I wouldn't call them heavy like a wire bead ) but roll very quickly. Mine haven't had a single puncture, and are still in good condition after about 6 years. They have had a lot of use on canal paths and occasional offroad tracks too.

I’ve got the 26” racing Ralph’s in the shed that I took off my RZ120 when I bought it. Too wide for you? They’re 2.2” I think.
There are others in there but not sure what.
Hutchison Pythons are there. 1.9” I think.

Sadly those Ralphs are a bit wider than I’m after, but thanks anyway.

I’ll have a look at the Contis...

Another mud tyre though but very cheap.

Plenty of 26 Barzo an Mezcals about, I’d get those.

They were; they do seem to have slimmed the range down a bit.

The only thing in 26” seems to be this which looks like a SB8 knock off; the pro tyres that are a bit more interesting only come in the smaller sizes...
