I find myself in a rather novel position (for me) of having a few different tyres available. Going to Cannock Chase tomorrow (never been before) with my hardtail and could use:

Front:

Maxxis High Roller 2 Max Terra DD 2.3"

Maxxis Minion DHF Max Terra EXO 2.3" or 2.5"

Rear:

Maxxis High Roller 2 Max Terra DD 2.3"

Maxxis Minion DHR Max Terra EXO 2.4"

Maxxis Aggressor EXO 2.3"

What would people choose?

What ever is on there at the moment - Cannock is mostly dry / sandy / not much mud.

The trail center?
dHF/ aggressor or DHR would be fine. If it's super dry there it's slippy as on the polished stones! If it's wet it's greasy. There's no really thick mud. You'll be fine with any of those tbh.
So in Subaru, is probably just rub whatever's on there at the mo, unless it's a Shorty or Wet Scream!

I used to ride the marked trails on Kenda Small Block 8's back when i first started so dont be too concerned about having not enough grip. As above, the stones are well polished, along with some roots in certain places so if its wet take it steady on those.

my best advice would be to use something not too draggy...

Off-piste should be pretty damp everywhere so Minions allround or Aggressor rear should be fine.

Off piste conditions are mint at the moment, really grippy and not too wet. DHF/HR2 2.5/2.4" combo will be perfect.

A brief ride on FTD at the weekend and there were huge pools of standing water (last sections down to the visitors centre), so I didn't bother with the rest and stayed off piste, much better anyway if you know where to go.

I would agree with making sure that they’re round. But black? Don’t forget tan walls or even the red walls of some years past. Marketing, hype, stupid prices on bicycle tyres is getting even dafter. Just ride, it’s not Moto GP!

Mostly those over by blue spade, off the top of upper cliff. But also the ones over by seven springs/quarry/shooting grounds, and off the top of the trig point by the cadet centre. Not sure about the Pepperslade one - I've ridden a new one there a few months ago but it was only short and don't know of that's it? I'll check it out next ride thanks.
