Looking at the dizzying array of available 29er tyres, struggling to determine what would be best, any suggestions? Need, good wet/mud traction, not wanting any wash out. Fast rollers would be good but not imperative as it is 29". Puncture protection would be nice but don't really want to spend more than about £20 per tyre.

Smorgasbord is the only thing I can think of that would do exactly what you're after for that price.
