so the holiday is booked, plans are all in place
so will I need travel insurance and if so any ideas on who to use

You'll need to read the t@c's most travel policies are ok unless your racing but some have clauses about cycling being the sole reason for the trip.

Is that road or off road ?
Most standard policies won't cover off road in mountains

Make sure helicopter flight is covered if things go wrong.
I've used snowcard but never had to use them

Check your bank account to see if that has a free travel insurance. Then read the T&Cs.
