Yonks since I've been to one.
Trying to organise a long-overdue trip away biking for group of 4/5.
Destination TBC but the lure of C-Y-B seems to have captured the imagination of a couple of them.

Been told the Lakes is 'too far' for a weekend (not sure about that).
Where else is good these days? - we're East Mids based. Prob one night away, so prob 2 rides.

I love CyB so thats what I'd say. Easily enough riding there for 2 days too I reckon and loads of places to stay nearby - Tyn Y Groes, Cae Gwyn Farm, holiday village up the road, theres a holiday cottage that'd sleep 5 right at the top of the Addams Family descents too...

I should imagine the lakes is the same distance from East mids as West Wales is. Cyb one day & degla ont way back or Degla and Cannock ont way back for not so much driving. Cyb is where it began in the UK though.

If they want CYB, there's no reason not to go there. You could do Nant Y Arian the following day.

go to CYB it's ace, loads to keep you busy over 2 days. Or do Antur Stiniog one day and then CYB the next?

What's Degla like these days?
Not been there since 07...
Anyone stayed at Sian and Dafydd's Old Skool place near CYB? Rate it?
We always used to stay in Dolgellau - even as a Welshman (South) I used to feel a bit unwelcome 😕

nickc - we've done Antur a few times since we've done CYB.
Want a bit of an XC pedal this time 😉

If you go to CYB, look out for the big patch of blood at the bottom of the first berm on the Adam & Eve section!

One of the lads was airlifted to hospital last Friday!

Rode Betws-y-Coed on the Saturday and that was pretty good, ends with a pretty decent descent.

Yes, we've stayed with Sian and Dafydd. It's brilliant. You will not want to ever stay anywhere else again! Great for larger groups too - I think they can take 10 or 12 people, all in lovely twin rooms, secure bike storage, great living areas, beautiful building, cute pooch and super hosts.

Bit further afield but Tyred Out @ Penmachno is good. Can ride to the end of the driveway and you're straight onto the trails. About 30 min drive to CyB.

I've stayed in torrent walk bunkhouse @ dolgun uchaf guesthouse, simple but comfortable. About 10-15 min drive from cyb

depending on where you are in the east mids, bike park wales could be as quick (if not quicker) to get to. plenty of riding there for a couple of days. but if you are after a more traditional trail center (ie not uplift) CYB is great and one of my favourites, especially MBR and Dragons back trails

We'd like to do BPW but it's difficult getting in there on a weekend.
We've booked into the B&B we use in Blaenau Ffestiniog when we do Stiniog - mad Glenys at Capel Pisgah.
Always a great stay - will do a big ride on Sat and a smaller hangover Sunday ride before heading back.

If you're going to the Lakes I wouldn't waste a trip on trail centres. Too much awesome naturalness and scenery.

North Wales though you can combine CYB, Marin & Penmachno. CYB has a lot to offer itself.

Bike Corris for guided stuff in the Dyfi. Google it, Dave Evans is a top bloke and knows the dyfi inside out 🙂

Lakes is quicker to get to from East Mids than CyB (Derby based here)
But if CyB break journey with Degla, Penmachno or Marin trail on way there (my vote would go to Penmachno)

These little, camping pods are a great, isolated and really cheap place to stay 5 minutes from CyB

I've done a fair bit of solo non-trail centre riding in the Lakes.
Some of our group won't want the perceived hassle of trail finding and navigating that comes with going au naturel. This is one of the big advantages of TCs though - less 'downtime' as you're being held by the hand all the way round effectively. Been a while though - looking forward to the riding, less so the night out in BF 😕

lakes is awesome proper riding but if you are in N. Wales do take in Penmachno if you can, I prefer it to CYB personally.

this might help (not complete): https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/2/edit?hl=en&authuser=2&mid=zh7iYiOwqlGo.kTSQfbsTuCEM

+1 for Penmachno, it's a gem. Descents fast and fun, and EPIC scenery, definitely my favourite in North Wales 🙂
